Pick a grade, then a puzzle theme and a skill level (Easy, Medium, or Tricky). To find a word, drag a finger across it, or tap its first letter and then its last letter. Found words light up in color, and finding them all earns three stars.

Tap the speaker next to any word in the list to hear it read aloud.

• Pre-K (ages 4–5): colors, shapes, and three-letter words in small grids.
• Kindergarten (ages 5–6): sight words and short-vowel words.
• 1st grade (ages 6–7): word families and blends.
• 2nd grade (ages 7–8): longer words and diagonal hunts.

If a puzzle feels too hard, try Easy in the same grade before moving down a grade. Easy puzzles have smaller grids and words that only go across or down.

Tap Grown-ups on the home screen and answer the multiplication question. This parental gate keeps purchases, settings, the puzzle maker, and outside links away from kids. After three wrong answers, the app returns to the kids' screen, and you can try again.

1. Open Grown-ups and tap New puzzle. (The puzzle maker is part of Full Access.)
2. Give the puzzle a name, then choose a grade and skill level. These set the grid size and which directions words can go.
3. Type words and tap Add, or tap Upload a word list (.txt).
4. Check the preview, tap Shuffle for a new layout if you like, and tap Save puzzle.

Saved puzzles appear on the home screen for kids to play, and under My puzzles in the Grown-ups area, where you can edit or delete them.

• A plain text (.txt) file, up to 100 KB.
• One word per line, or words separated by commas.
• Up to 12 words per puzzle, each 2 to 12 letters long, using letters only.

Words that are too long, too short, or repeated are skipped, and the app tells you which ones.

Tap Shuffle to try a new layout, or choose a harder skill level. Harder levels use bigger grids and let words go in more directions, which leaves more room. Removing a word or two also helps.

Every grade includes 3 free puzzles, playable at every skill level. Full Access is a one-time purchase that unlocks every puzzle in every grade, plus the puzzle maker. There is no subscription, and there are no ads.

Make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you used to buy Full Access. Then open Grown-ups and tap Restore purchase, or tap Restore purchase on the unlock screen. Restoring is free.

This happens when Ask to Buy is turned on for your child's Apple Account. Once the family organizer approves the request, Full Access turns on automatically.

Apple handles all payments and refunds for apps from the App Store, so we can't issue refunds directly. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Word Sprouts uses the best English voice installed on your device. To download a higher-quality one on iPhone or iPad, go to Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices → English and download a voice such as Ava or Zoe. The app will use it the next time it speaks.

• Check that the device volume is up and the device isn't muted.
• In Grown-ups settings, make sure Sounds is on. To have words read aloud automatically when they're found, turn on Speak words when found.
• Tapping the speaker next to a word always reads it aloud, even when automatic speaking is off.

Yes. In Grown-ups settings, set Letter case to abc. This changes the letters in the grid and in the word list.

In Grown-ups settings, tap Reset progress. This clears stars and check marks for every puzzle. Your custom puzzles stay saved.

No. For privacy, Word Sprouts has no accounts and keeps everything on the device, so progress and custom puzzles aren't synced and are removed if you delete the app. Your Full Access purchase can always be restored (see above).

No. All puzzles work offline. The app only connects to the App Store when you buy or restore Full Access.
